Committed to the journey

I didn't transform overnight. I changed my habits, improved my nutrition, started training consistently and kept going. Some days were easier than others. The biggest difference wasn't one workout or one diet — it was learning to turn up again and again.

This is my personal experience, not a promise that everyone will achieve the same results.

02 — Who I am

Just an ordinary dad.

I'm Danny.

I'm 41, married, a dad and based in Hertfordshire.

Like plenty of people, I've spent years balancing work, family responsibilities and everything else life throws at you.

At some point, I decided I needed to take my health more seriously.

That decision eventually led to losing over 40kg, rebuilding my fitness and discovering how much I genuinely enjoy training.

I'm not a professional athlete. I'm not here pretending to have all the answers.

I'm someone who found a routine that works for me and wants to share the experience.

If my journey encourages one other person to make a positive change, that's worth sharing.

03 — Why I train early

Before the world
wakes up.

Making time for myself without taking time away from the people who matter most.

I often train very early in the morning, sometimes around 3:30am.

Not because everyone should wake up at that time. Absolutely not. It's simply the time that works for me.

While most people are asleep, I can get my training done, clear my head and start the day feeling like I've already accomplished something.

Then I can get home, help get my daughter ready for school, spend time with my family and get on with work.

The message isn't that you need to wake up at 3:30am. The message is to find your time.

Whether that's 5am, lunchtime or 8pm, build a routine that works around your responsibilities.

Consistency matters far more than what time your alarm goes off.

Find your time.
Own your routine.

04 — How I lost the weight

How I did it.

No magic formula. Just changes I could stick to.

01

Nutrition

Losing over 40kg wasn't about starving myself, cutting out everything I enjoyed or following some complicated diet. It was about understanding what I was eating, controlling my calories and prioritising protein.

I keep things simple. Huel Lite, Marchon protein shakes, Greek yoghurt, fruit and a proper evening meal form the foundation of my routine. Quick, convenient and easy to stick to around work, family and training.

For early mornings and demanding sessions, I use Marchon Workout Fuel to get carbohydrates in without having to prepare a meal at 3am.

I still enjoy treats, meals out and the foods I love. Some days I eat more, particularly when training harder. It's about finding a balance that works.

Consistency beats perfection. Find something you can maintain.

02

Consistency

Motivation comes and goes.

There are days when I'm tired, when training feels hard and when I'd rather stay in bed.

Building a routine has helped me keep going without relying entirely on motivation.

03

Training

My training includes strength work, HYROX sessions, running, cycling and conditioning.

I enjoy having something to work towards.

Training isn't just about losing weight anymore. It's about getting stronger, improving endurance and challenging myself.

04

Real life

I'm a dad. I work. I have responsibilities.

I don't want fitness to replace those things.

I want fitness to help me be healthier, more energetic and more present for the people who matter.

This is what worked for me. Everyone's circumstances and needs are different. This is not individual medical or nutritional advice.

Find Your Training

The right environment. The right support. The right plan.

One of the biggest changes for me wasn't just training harder. It was finding the right environment and having a plan to follow.

I'd spent years going to traditional gyms, but I found that moving into functional fitness, CrossFit-style training and HYROX made a massive difference. The variety, the community, the challenges and being surrounded by people pushing themselves helped me enjoy training more than ever.

But that doesn't mean everyone needs to join a specialist gym.

01 —

Find your environment

If you can, try a functional fitness, CrossFit, HYROX or hybrid training gym.

For me, the atmosphere, community and structured sessions made a huge difference. Being around people with similar goals helped me stay motivated, challenge myself and genuinely enjoy turning up.

02 —

Get some guidance

If you're unsure where to start, consider a personal trainer, coach or online coaching programme.

Having someone help with technique, programming and accountability can make training far less intimidating.

You don't need someone standing next to you every day, but having guidance and a plan can make a massive difference.

03 —

Follow a structured programme

You don't necessarily need a coach standing next to you or an expensive gym membership.

I'm currently using the Marchon Training App for my training, including ATHX, HYROX, running, strength and hybrid fitness.

It gives me structured programmes, clear sessions and something to work towards rather than turning up at the gym wondering what to do.

There are programmes for different goals and abilities, so you can find something that suits your training and lifestyle.

My advice

Don't overcomplicate it.

You don't need to train at 3am, spend hours in the gym or copy someone else's routine.

Find something you enjoy, something that challenges you and something that fits around your life.

The best training programme is the one you'll actually stick to.
